Yes, with a current Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, or a referral from a Psychiatrist, you can claim a rebate for part of the fee for your sessions from Medicare. The current rebate for a Clinical Psychologist is $145.25 per session. The rebate for a Registered Psychologist is $98.95 per session. If you do not wish to obtain a rebate from Medicare, you may be entitled to a rebate for Psychological services from your Private Health Insurer.

Absolutely, we encourage all partners to be involved in this process. In addition, we also see women for individual therapy.
At Matters therapy for men, we understand that when struggles occur, they can occur within the family unit. As such, we encourage that at some stage throughout our sessions, we conduct a family session to meet and involve your family. Of course we understand that this is not always practicably possible, and will work with you around your wants and needs around these sessions.

Yes, we do have a cancellation policy. When you book a session, that time is allocated for you. If you do not attend your appointment or fail to cancel within 24 hours, you will be charged the full fee for the session. We understand that emergency situations can arise. Therefore, if you cannot attend, please contact the practice as soon as possible so that we can allow someone else to fill your appointment. Rebates for services are not available for payments on late cancellations.

Therapy isn’t meant to be endless, but it also isn’t “one size fits all.”
The honest answer is, it depends on your goals, the challenges you’re facing, and the type of support you need.
Your Psychologist will work with you to regularly review your progress and ensure therapy continues to feel helpful, purposeful, and aligned with your needs.

It’s completely normal to feel unsure about where to start, especially if you’re new to therapy or feeling overwhelmed. You don’t need to have the “right words” or a clear plan before your first session. Your psychologist will guide the conversation gently, helping you explore what’s been going on and what support might be most helpful. Simply showing up is a meaningful first step and we’ll meet you where you are.

Payment for online appointments can be made via direct debit or manually processed by our administration team.
If you are eligible for a Medicare rebate or using private health insurance, we can provide the necessary receipt or assist with processing where applicable.
If you have any questions about fees, rebates, or payment options, please feel free to contact our team before your session.

Therapy offers a supportive and practical space for you to talk through life’s challenges, understand what’s going on beneath the surface, and build healthier ways of coping.
Whether you’re dealing with stress, anger, anxiety, relationships, work pressure, or feeling stuck, your psychologist will work alongside you to set clear goals and develop strategies that fit your life.
Sessions are tailored to your needs and move at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful.

Finding the right psychologist is an important part of therapy, and it’s normal to want to feel comfortable and understood. A good fit means you feel respected, supported, and able to speak openly without judgement.
In the first few sessions, you’ll get a sense of your psychologist’s approach and whether it aligns with what you’re looking for. Therapy works best as a collaborative relationship, and we welcome open conversations to ensure you’re receiving the support that feels right for you.

This therapy may be for you, if…
This therapy may be for you if you’re finding day-to-day life heavier than it used to be—work pressure, sleep problems, or constant low mood that saps motivation—and you want practical ways to manage it. It’s for men who notice anxiety or irritability creeping into relationships, who struggle to communicate clearly with partners, family, or colleagues, or who feel stuck after a big change like a breakup, job shift, or becoming a parent. It’s also for those who want straightforward tools to improve focus, handle stress without shutting down, and build routines that support better sleep and energy. If you’re tired of quick fixes and want steady, no-judgment support to develop skills that actually stick, this is a place to learn how to respond differently to pressure, reconnect with what matters, and regain a sense of control and direction.
